The Samnite colonization took place through the "Ver Sacum", a rite which consisted in sacrificing to the God Mamerte, from 1 March to 30 April, the vine plants, animals, such as bulls, and the firstborn born in the following Spring, once the of age, they were destined to conquer new lands. The essence of Samnite sacrifices is rediscovered by tasting our Barbera.
